wednesday in-house: a worldly child
im wanting to put up a world map somewhere on our walls either in ds room or play space in the living room. can’t really decide what look to go for. we have a globe that we refer to when we want to look up a country or talk about where we are but a flat map is probably easier to teach him (and i ;P) some geography...have you got a map up in your house? any suggestions?

messed up monday
no messy monday happened this week because the weather was tooo good to stay indoors. we are still adjusting to the restrictions on life when it's cold out, so d and i took advantage of the great weather and had a puppet picnic in the park... the lawn was wet so we actually had it on the bball courts, regardless it was awesome! we had so much fun and even though i probably looked like the mad hatter it's definitely a activity we will repeat...even the puppets are still raving on about it!

wednesday in house: calming and charming
i saw this fur neil moon poster in an image of a room and fell in love. i like to have different things (i.e. no theme) in ds room so that he has visual stimulus from different fields, space and astronomy was one that we hadn’t really covered so it started with this moon poster (see previous post for ds room pic). it is illustrated by martin krusche for omm design and pays homage to neil armstrong. now every time i see it in children’s rooms i fall in love with the image all over again...

messy monday: spot the painting
this weekend was vomit central at our house :( poor d and little d were both sick in the tummy and there was vomit flying everywhere (including dads face lol ...its funny because it wasn’t my face). so 6 loads of washing later and it seems like they’re on the mend. so heres a diy i did a while back. its easy, looks awesome and is a great learning tool for teaching colours. i want to write the colour names on there as well (its been a year :I). it will happen. finishing what i’ve started is one of my resolutions for the new year (bahahaaha), have you made any new year resolutions? don’t worry i won’t hold you to them ;)
all you need is a canvas, paint, ruler, pencil and compass or trace a round object (last time i had a compass was in grade 8 so i just traced something)...and a few nights...

wednesday in-house: black walls
i see these rooms and all i want to do is attack one of my walls with a paintbrush and some black paint (lucky im renting otherwise id be painting the walls all the time!)...never tire of this colour, so sophisticated and a great backdrop for colourful toys. the caisak image is devine, could even be a guest room. what do you think about using black as a feature wall in a children’s space? too dark?
