antique street

today we headed out to Jalan Surabaya where the antique street market is. the small stalls line the street for about half a km, and boy was there lots to see and touch. despite being in sweltering heat we spent a good hour and half walking the strip (little d stayed in the air conditioned car, except for a ten minute walk around to see the puppets). needless to say there was so many things i saw that would love to live at my place, but you have to bargain hard and it can get tiring... although i would say you can get about 50 per cent off the original asking price. now that i've been there a second time i think i will have to investigate how to spot the true antiques from the replicas and figure out how much is reasonable to pay... or take someone with me who knows what they are doing.

of course i picked a little something up. probably is an aged replica (no idea!)... now i just need to figure out where it should live.

all that glitters is not gold

just looked through the jewellery collections on style.com for Spring 2012. these are my favourites out of what i saw. i love the bold colours and geometric forms. i was especially intrigued by the MAWI collection and the way they have used traditional materials to make ultra modern styles...usually im not drawn to gem stones but i am coveting pretty much every piece. if you were donning one of these you could probably get away with wearing a garbage bag!

the tourist

our guest bedroom is a bit of an eye sore, and even though we have had many guests come through our apartment this year already, I've been too preoccupied to care. we live in a furnished apartment so all the major pieces are not my choice but hopefully i can get it looking semi decent without doing too much and working around whats already there.

the mood im going for is elegant, clean, comfy and modern without being too impersonal and hotelly (i wish auto correct could detect when you are purposely making up words and just leave you alone)... anyhow - the funnest part of thinking about how to rescue it is looking at countless countless pics of perfect dream guest bedrooms and rooms to procrastinate get inspiration and come up with some sort of mood board.

so this is the forunner for the scheme i want, just not sure if its too girly? preferably i want it to be a gender neutral room. loving the olive+pink+white with  gold accents and THAT rug via decor pad

i love the mixture of pattern (the charcoal stripes) and the colour scheme too via house to home

always a sucker for grey and its combo with light blue white and dusky pink ...dreamy via first home

got to love some fluro accents in amongst the classics via neon

elements to make it comfy - some entertainment w books to read and love the baby picture hanging above the bed lets you know you are in a home filled with love and energy via interest

first post

so although blogging seems to have been around for a gezzillion years i only caught on a year ago....and i'm afraid to even think about how much time i've spent looking at them over this time. although i have to admit my obsession interest in looking at and collecting inspirational photos - especially of design, interior decoration and fashion has been life long (i have a myriad folders full of cut outs!). i also want to chronicle some of what me and my family get up to. i guess thats what makes blogging so great its a digital visual diary something that has limitless pages of inspiration and efficient archiving. anyhow, it seems that now is the time for my computer illiterate self to join this digital community.

so here it goes!

i guess its not right to have a spiel all about collecting images without having one in the first post. o well...what ill do instead in paste in the quotation i took the name of this blog from.

The honor allotted to man is the acquisition of the supreme virtues of the human world. This is his real happiness and felicity. But if material happiness and spiritual felicity be conjoined, it will be "delight upon delight" ‘Abdu’l-Bahá
