wednesday in-house: hanging around the house

i think these are just genius. so much fun and especially during the cold months would be perfect for some variety in indoor play. if i hung one up at our place the kids would be running into other furniture or even worse a wall so can’t happen atm :( but if i could i definitely would. i’m especially in love with the s swing by rafa, pretty good price point too. and how amazing is this baby swing by la clinica design, hand made with a leather strap *sigh* their book and magazine stands are to die for as well...their whole site is beautiful ...go check it out.

messy monday: how to display kids art work

to me the best mess of all is an art mess :) i’ve seen many solutions to the display of the outcome but the one i like best of all is making a gallery wall. when i unveiled d’s gallery wall to him in our new apartment he was sooo blown away “woooow mummy”! he proclaimed it was adorable, i think he really felt that we valued his creativity because we were displaying it for everyone to see. every so often i catch him looking at the wall saying with pride “ohhhh myyyy god, so much painting” and then points out which are his favourites. i was a little slow with putting up the last painting project and a few days ago and he said “where are my dinosaurs?”
any how the point i’m trying to make is that putting up his pictures seems to have given him a sense of pride in his work.

so what to do with all those treasured pieces (or monstrosities) your little artist makes? here are some gorgeous ways to display it, and when we have a sunny day ill take some pics of our art wall for you to see.
p.s. i realise its tuesday but monday was a public holiday ;P
this one actually isn’t children’s art but the colours and display is so cheerful you could easily substitute here

wednesday in house: rock a bye baby

below is a round up of some beautiful cradles. i used a cradle we borrowed from a friend for d. but for little d we just used a co sleep bed in our own bed until he outgrew that  (4 weeks later :I) and then moved him to the port a cot till we transitioned d into a bed and then put little d into the crib. but of course i still have to share these gorgeous cradles that i’ve come across. these are so beautiful that you probably wouldn’t want your baby to drool on or poop in them...come to think of it maybe they should just be put on display and let the baby sleep somewhere else ;P did you use a cradle for your baby?

wednesday in-house: cane chairs

i’m looking to get some chairs for the boys play area, i only recently realised (when i was told) that d doesn’t ever sit to do anything! he doesn’t have a chair he can do activities in so if he’s painting or playing etc. he is always standing up. i don’t think its really a problem but i think its probably nice when doing things like activity books or having a snack to sit down on his own miniature chair. he has a ikea stool (which he always looks like he’s about to fall off lol) and an ikea poang, which is more a lounge chair...any how before i bore you to death talking about chairs heres some that i didn’t think id be a fan of but consistently loved them in images...cane chairs. not really the type of chair i’m after, so the search continues but how gorgeous are they? they give the spaces a sense of depth, like they have a story to tell. how cute would they look on a porch!

messy monday: it must be love

my motto these days is if you want something new, paint something old! I’ve been dying to paint a plastic animal toy. we have a heap of triceratops... so it had it coming! at first i was going to do different colours and patterns but once i put the base of white on i loved it so much i decided to keep it white... for now. remember i was wanting to give little ds part of our room a bit of baby decor ...well this triceratops is now sitting on top of my his dresser. below is a photo of when the dresser was mine :I and how it looks now. i have to say i feel gooey inside every time i see all his little shoes up there...you know when you love things just because you know they belong to someone you love. any how his “area” is still not done but will show you picks when i get it together.

wednesday in-house: a worldly child

im wanting to put up a world map somewhere on our walls either in ds room or play space in the living room. can’t really decide what look to go for. we have a globe that we refer to when we want to look up a country or talk about where we are but a flat map is probably easier to teach him (and i ;P) some geography...have you got a map up in your house? any suggestions?

messed up monday

no messy monday happened this week because the weather was tooo good to stay indoors. we are still adjusting to the restrictions on life when it's cold out, so d and i took advantage of the great weather and had a puppet picnic in the park... the lawn was wet so we actually had it on the bball courts, regardless it was awesome! we had so much fun and even though i probably looked like the mad hatter it's definitely a activity we will repeat...even the puppets are still raving on about it!
